Inle Lake is located in the middle of the Shan Plateau. It is the second largest lake in Myanmar. The lake itself is 22km long and 10km wide. The area around the lake is populated by many different ethnic groups.

The Intha people are the lake dweller who have the unique leg rowing style to paddle their boats. The leg rowed traditional boats are one of the main attractions of Inle Lake.

While you are there you can also visit Haiya Ywama to see the traditional and modern looms and also visit the silverware cottage industry in Haiya Ywama. Then visit Phaung Daw Oo pagoda which is famous for its annual pagoda festival together with the spectacular procession of hundreds of leg-rowers in their long boats pulling the huge Karaweik, bird-shaped ceremonial barge, accompanied by boats ladened with dancers and musician.

Visit Nga Phe Chaung monastery (formerly known as Jumping Cat monastery) more than one and a half century old monastery with its collection of ancient Buddha Images. Other attractions include leg-rowing style fishing method and see the floating gardens on Inle Lake.

One of the best time of the year to be there is during Phaung Taw Oo Pagoda festival that celebrated in every October which lasts three weeks.
